Daron Payne is a football player born on May 27, 1997, in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. He participated in the 2014 Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game and was named to the 2015 US Army All-American Bowl. He was an integral part of the Alabama Crimson Tide defense.
In 2015, Daron appeared in all 15 games as a freshman, contributing 13 tackles (six solo), a half-sack, and a forced fumble. He took the team to three consecutive College Football Playoff National Championship berths, winning it in 2015 and 2017. Daron earned First-Team All-SEC honors from the Associated Press. He garnered Defensive MVP honors in the Sugar Bowl and the College Football Playoff National Championship.
The Washington Commanders selected him as the 13th overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Daron made the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2018. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2022. By 2022, the defensive player had 291 tackles, 26 sacks, and 14 pass deflections.
