Darren Stanley Hayes is an Australian singer and songwriter who was born on May 8th 1972 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. He has two siblings, older sister Tracey and older brother Peter. They were born to father Robert (a merchant seaman) and mother Judy (a retired nurses assistant). Darren once pursued a degree in Teaching from the University of Queensland.
Darren rose to fame as the lead singer for the Australian alternative rock band Savage Garden. The band won ten ARIA Music Awards in 1997 for their debut album. The band’s other hit tracks include I Want You, Truly Madly Deeply and Crash and Burn. Darren is also known for having written songs for famous artists like Olivia Newton John, Clay Aiken and the Backstreet Boys. His list of clients includes Grammy Award-winning producers Walter Afanasieff (Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston), Rick Nowels (Madonna, Celine Dion), Mark ‘Spike’ Stent (Oasis, No Doubt, U2) and Marius DeVries (Bjork).
