David Stephen Koz was born on March 27, 1963 in Tarzana, California. His brother, Jeff, is also a musician and they both joined the school band in high school, which is how Dave got his start in music.
Koz was lucky when he started out because he quickly united with Bobby Caldwell, who allowed Koz to tour with him. This led to numerous other opportunities in the 1980’s with a lot of different bands. He was part of the band for The Pat Sajak Show and he also performed in the band on the popular 1980’s-1990’s show The Aresnio Hall Show.
Koz began working with Capitol Records in 1990 and released several albums with them, including Saxophonic, which would get him a Grammy nomination and an NAACP Image Award. Some other ventures of his are a radio show that he hosted for several years, a record label he started called Rendezvous Entertainment, and a weekly radio show on XM Radio’s popular station called Watercolors. He was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2009 and currently operates a popular restaurant and lounge in Beverly Hills, California.
