David Guttenfelder (born 1969) is an American photojournalist most renowned for his works on global geopolitics and conservation.
Guttenfelder began his career as a freelancer in East Africa after studying Swahili at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. For over two decades, he worked as a photojournalist for the Associated Press, traveling across the world and covering news in more than 75 countries including Nairobi, Abidjan, New Delhi, Jerusalem, and Tokyo. His photography has been exhibited around the world, including at Visa Pour L'Image in Perpignan, France; the Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles; and the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.
In 2013, Guttenfelder won the Online Journalism Award. In 2014, he was named the Instagram photographer of the year by TIME magazine and received the Shorty Award for online photography. He is the founder of the Instagram collectives @everydayUSA and @everydayDPRK. He is a seven-time finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and a seven-time winner of the World Press Photo Award.
