David Johnson is an American professional football player born in Memphis, Tennessee on December 16, 1991. He is currently a running back for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League. He played football in high school at Clinton High School in Clinton, Iowa for the River Kings high school football team. He set a number of school records while playing for the Kings and in 2009 was selected as the Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year. He went on to play college football at The University of Northern Iowa from 2010 to 2014. In 2015 he was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the third round, 86th overall, in the 2015 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year contract with the Cardinals for $2.9 million with $639,373 guaranteed and a signing bonus of $639,373. He made his NFL debut on September 13, 2015, against the New Orleans Saints. In 2018 he signed a three-year contract with the Cardinals for $39 million with $30 million guaranteed. Throughout his NFL career he has recorded 2,783 rushing yards, 31 rushing touchdowns, 1,849 receiving yards, 11 receiving touchdowns, 598 return yards, and 1 return touchdown.
