David Keenan is known to be an Irish singer and storyteller from Dundalk, Co. Louth. As a child, he started playing music when he found a Hohner guitar belonging to his uncle. He moved to Liverpool at 17 years old and was busked to pay for his hostel in Edge Hill. He began to send out demos of his songs when he returned to Ireland and got a big success when his song “El Paso” became popular online. Since then, he has collaborated with Mick Flannery and Damien Dempsey.
He released four EPs on his label, Barrack Street Records, including Cobwebs, Strip Me Bare, Strip Me Bare Vol.2, and Evidence of Living. In 2019, he signed to Rubyworks Records in Ireland, and in that same year, he went on a European and an American tour with Hozier.
Keena released his debut album, A Beginner’s Guide to Bravery in 2020 and ranked number one in the Irish Independent Albums Charts. His album was commented as being Thrilling by Sunday Times and he played a sold-out Olympia Theatre in Dublin the week of the album release. He announced his second album “WHAT THEN ?” to be released in October 2021.
