David Mamet was born on November 30, 1947 in Chicago, IL. Mamet is an author, screenwriter and playwright, who began his career on off-Broadway plays. In 1987, Mamet wrote and directed his first film House of Games, which received the Best Film and Best Screenplay awards at the Venice Film Festival. His film Homicide awarded him Screenwriter of the Year from the London Critics Circle Film Awards.
In 1990, Mamet began his career as an author and published his book titled The Hero Pony. He has written and directed for numerous television series including Hill Street Blues, The Shield and The Unit. Most recently, Mamet wrote the Broadway play China Doll in 2015 and is a contributing blogger for Huffington Post.
