On April 17, 1980, David Otero, born in Madrid, Spain, was the second member of Spanish power pop band El Canto del Loco to go solo after the band's self-imposed sabbatical in 2009. Before joining the band's early lineup, he studied law and aviation administration, replacing original guitarist Iván Ganchegui. The band went on to have four number one albums and 11 number one hits during the decade, one of which was written by Otero ("Despiertame").
He released his debut solo album, Nada Lógico, in 2010 under the alias El Pescao, while the band was on sabbatical at the end of the decade. The album revealed a more experimental side, experimenting with electronica, indie pop, and folk, and collaborations with hotshot producer Carlos Jean, DJ Wally Lopez, and Brazilian vocalist Ana Caas.
