Dawes is an American indie folk rock band from California. The band is originally from Los Angeles comprised of brothers Taylor Goldsmith on vocals and guitar and Griffin Goldsmith on the drums alongside Wylie Gelber on bass and Lee Pardini on Keyboards. The band kicked off their music career when they connected with producer Jonathan Wilson. Dawes began practicing with Conor Oberst, Benmont Tench and Chris Robinson. The band then released their debut album in 2009 titled ‘North Hills’. The album was recorded on an analog tape, giving the band their vintage vibe. Their second album arrived in 2011 titled ‘Nothing Is Wrong’ and broke through at the number 18 spot on Billboard’s Top Rock Charts. Dawes third studio album was released in 2013 titled ‘Stories Don’t End’ with production from Blake Mills. Their fifth album, ‘All Your Favorite Bands’ in 2015 and landed at number one on Billboard’s Folk Albums Chart as well as on the Top Rock Albums chart at number 4. Gaining more popularity, Dawes released their fifth album, ‘We’re All Gonna Die’ in 2016 which preceded their sixth and most recent album, ‘Passwords’ in 2018 through their own label, HUB Records. The band is has recently announced a tour around the U.S. and Europe.
