Dawnn Lewis is an actress born on 13th August 1961 in Brooklyn, New York, United States. She is widely known for playing Jaleesa Vinson-Taylor in the sitcom television series “A Different World” from 1987 to 1992. Lewis started her career in 1988 with the Blaxploitation parody film “I’m Gonna Git You Sucka”. In 1992, she played Ella Fitzgerald in the film “Stompin’ at the Savoy”. Her other film credits include “Bad Day on the Block” in 1997, “The Adventure of Brer Rabbit” in 2006, “Preacher’s Kid” in 2010, “Alone Together” in 2015, and others.
Lewis made her television debut in 1990 with the animated cartoon series “Kid ‘n Play” as the voice of Lela.
