Professional tennis player, Dayana Yastremska was born on 15th May 2000 in Odessa, Ukraine. She was introduced to tennis by her grandfather and entered her first tournament when she was seven and finished in third place. After finishing in second place at the Junior Orange Bowl in 2012, she made her ITF Junior Circuit debut at 13. She won her first title in a Grade 4 event later that year. She made a Grade A tournament debut at the Osaka Mayor’s Cup in Japan where she finished in second place. Her junior Grand Slam debut came in 2016 at the Australian Open where she reached the quarterfinals. At 15, she made her WTA main draw debut at the Istanbul Cup. She won her first WTA title at the Ladies Open Dunakeszi. In that season, she also won three ITF doubles titles. In 2018, she won the Toreno Internazionale Femminile Antico Tiro a Volo and entered the WTA Top 100 list at 18. She rose up the rankings consistently and won her first two Grand Slam main draw matches at the Australian Open. After winning two WTA titles at the Hua Hin Championships and the Internationaux de Strasbourg she reached a career-high ranking of World No.22. Yastremska is hailed as one of the most aggressive WTA players and has the highest percentage of shots ending in an unforced error, winner and opponent’s forced error.
