Dear Silas is the stage name of the American rapper and trumpet player Silas Stapleton III. He was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. He started playing the trumpet at the age of twelve and studied music performance while attending the University of Louisiana in Monroe. He released his first mixtape in 2014 and followed it up in 2016 with the release of his debut independently released album The Day I Died. While working at a computer store he came up with the hook for his popular song “Skrr Skrr.” The song became a massive hit and was used in a number of popular memes. He signed a contract with the record company RCA and released his second studio album in 2018 titled The Last Cherry Blossom that featured artists like Aha Gazelle, Cea, and Compozitionz.
