Debra Winger is an American actress born in Cleveland Heights, Ohio on May 16, 1955. She is best known for starring in the films Shadowlands, Terms of Endearment, and An Officer and a Gentleman. At 18 years old she got in a massive car accident that caused her to reevaluate her life and choose to pursue an acting career. In 1976 she landed her debut acting role in a feature film in the movie Slumber Party 57’. She continued landing roles in films like Thank God It’s Friday, Urban Cowboy, Cannery Row, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, An Officer and a Gentleman, Terms of Endearment, Legal Eagles, Black Widow, Leap of Faith Shadowlands, A Dangerous Woman, Big Bad Love, Rachel Getting Married, and more. In 1976 she landed her debut role on television in the show Wonder Woman and has since had roles in the television shows and films Szysznyk, Special Olympics, Police Woman, James at 16, Dawn Anna, Sometimes in April, Law & Order, In Treatment, The Red Tent, The Ranch, and Patriot. Throughout her career she has been nominated for three Academy Awards, four Golden Globes, a Primetime Emmy Award and others. She has won an NSFC Award, a Showest Award, and several Film Festival Awards.
