Deron Michael Williams is an American former professional basketball player who played as a point guard in the National Basketball Association. He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, United States, on June 26, 1984.
Deron attended the University of Illinois, where he played college basketball. He began his NBA career in 2005 when he was drafted third overall by the Utah Jazz. During his time with the Jazz, Williams was named an NBA All-Star three times and led the team to the Western Conference Finals in 2007. In 2011, Williams was traded to the New Jersey Nets, where he continued to perform at a high level, earning NBA All-Star honors twice more.
In addition to his NBA career, Williams represented the United States in international basketball competitions, winning two gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics in a team that also featured Kevin Durant, Kevin Love, and LeBron James.
