Deshaun Watson is an American professional football player born in Gainesville, Georgia on September 14, 1995. He is currently a quarterback for the Houston Texans of the National Football League. He played football while in high school at Gainesville High School for the Red Elephants football team. He went on to play college football at Clemson University for the Clemson Tigers from 2014 to 2016. In 2015 he won ACC Offensive Player of the Year, ACC Player of the Year, the Manning Award, and the Davey O’Brien Award. In 2016 he won the Manning Award, and the Davey O’Brien Award for the second year in a row. In 2017 he entered the draft and was selected by the Houston Texans in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, 12th overall. He signed a four-year contract with the Texans for $13.84 million with a $8.21 million signing bonus. He played his debut game in the NFL on September 10, 2017 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. On January 21, 2019 he was named to his first Pro Bowl. Throughout his NFL career he has recorded 5,864 passing yards, 820 rushing yards, and 7 rushing touchdowns. He also broke and set a number of NFL records, including most passing touchdowns in a calendar month by a rookie quarterback with 16, first rookie to produce 5+ touchdowns in consecutive games, most passing touchdowns by a rookie in a 7-game span in NFL history with 19 and more.
