As a sophomore in 2004, he was named a first-team All-American by the Sporting News. In his college career, Devin was recognized as one of the best return specialists in college football. Not long after that, he was selected as 57th overall pick in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. Hester's game in 2006 earned him three NFC Special Teams Player of the Week Awards and a spot in the all-star game 2007 Pro Ball.
