Devin McCourty is an American professional football player born in Nyack, New York on August 13, 1987. He is currently a free safety for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. He played football in high school at Saint Joseph High School in Montvale, New Jersey. He went on to play college football at Rutgers University for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights football team from 2006 to 2009. In 2010 he was selected by the New England Patriots in the first round, 27th overall, in the 2010 NFL Draft. McCourty was signed to a five-year contract with the Patriots for $10 million with $7.28 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $1.5 million. He made his NFL debut in the Patriots season-opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. In 2015 he became an unrestricted free agent and was sought after by several teams but ultimately signed a five-year contract with the Patriots for $47.5 million with $28.5 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $15 million. With the Patriots McCourty became a three time Super Bowl champion and has competed in two Pro Bowls. Throughout his NFL career he has recorded 714 tackles, 3 sacks, 9 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, 21 interceptions, 80 pass deflections, and 2 touchdowns.
