British New Wave pop/soul band Dexys Midnight Runners was formed in Birmingham, England in 1978. The members are Kevin Rowland who sings, writes and plays guitar; singer and guitarist Kevin Archer and other members that have left.
Their hit “Geno,” made it to the #1 spot on the UK Top Pop charts in the 80s. Other singles also were in the Top Ten, like “There, There, My Dear” and their first album “Searching for the Young Soul Rebels”, which became a big hit.
However, their biggest hit is the internationally known karaoke classic, “Come on Eileen,” which became a number 1 hit in England and the US. It was the best-selling single in the UK in 1982 and won the BRIT award for Best British single. After splitting up for some time, the band came back together for more projects.
