Didier Yves Drogba Tébily, better known as Didier Drogba, is a former professional soccer player born on Mar 11, 1978, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. When he was young, he shuffled between Ivory Coast and France before finally settling down in France. Drogba started his professional career playing for Le Mans and later transferred to Guingamp and Marseille. His performance at Marseille attracted the attention of then-Chelsea coach, Jose Mourinho. In 2004, Drogba officially transferred to Chelsea. Drogba spent two seasons (2012-2014) playing with Shanghai Shenhua and Galatasaray before returning to play with Chelsea. During his time with Chelsea, Drogba helped the team win four English FA Cups and one Champions League. He is a two-time African Footballer of the Year. Drogba played for the Ivory Coast National Team from 2002 to 2014. With Ivory Coast, Drogba participated in 3 FIFA World Cups. In 2018, Drogba announced his retirement. Outside of soccer, Drogba is an activist that often speaks about the issues in his home country and was named a Goodwill Ambassador.
