Diego Lainez Bio

Diego Lainez is a professional football player who plays for Primeira Liga club Braga, on loan from Spanish club Real Betis. He also plays for the Mexican national team. Born on 9th June 2000 in Tabasco, Mexico, Lainez started his career with the Mexican football club America in 2012. After five years with the youth setup, he was called to the senior side, where he made 39 appearances scoring 5 goals.

On 10th January 2019, he signed a five-year contract with the Spanish club Real Betis. He made his debut for the club on 20th January in a 3 – 2 win over Girona. On 14th February, he scored in a 3 – 3 draw against Rennes in the UEFA Europa League, becoming the youngest player to score in the competition. On 20th July 2022, he took a season-long loan to Primeira Liga club Braga. Lainez has played for the various youth levels of Mexico but received a call-up to the senior side in 2018.
