Dimitri Payet is a professional soccer player born in Saint-Pierre, Réunion, on March 29, 1987. He played youth soccer with Saint-Philippe (1995–1998), Saint-Pierroise (1998–1999), Le Havre (1999–2003), and AS Excelsior (2003–2004). He made his professional debut for AS Excelsior, scoring twelve goals in 36 appearances.
The attacking midfielder won two Coupe de la Réunion with AS Excelsior. He has played for Nantes, Saint-Étienne, Lille, and West Ham United. Dimitri wears the number 10 jersey for Marseille and has scored 57 goals in all appearances. The team emerged as runner-up at the 2017/18 UEFA Europa League.
Dimitri scored eight goals in 38 appearances for the French national team. The team was runner-up at the 2016 UEFA European Championship.
