Diogo Costa is a soccer player who currently plays for the Portuguese club Porto and the Portuguese national team as a goalkeeper. Born on 19th September 1999 in Portugal, Costa started his career with the CB Povoa Lanhoso youth setup in 2009. Two years later, he joined the Porto Youth Academy. He went on to make his senior debut with Porto B in 2017. Two years later, he was handed his first team debut.
In 2021, he became the first-choice keeper for the Primeira Liga club. After an impressive first month, he was named September 2021’s Goalkeeper of the Month. Costa has played for the various youth levels of the Portuguese national team. He was called to the senior in 2021, joining the squad that played against Azerbaijan and the Republic of Ireland in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. He replaced Rui Patricio as first-team goalkeeper in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
