Dirk Kuijt, or Dirk Kuyt, is a former professional soccer player born on July 22, 1980, in Katwijk, Netherlands. Kuyt played for local amateur team Quick Boys before signing with Utrecht in 1998. He helped Utrecht win the Dutch Cup in the 2002-03 season. Kuyt transferred to Feyenoord the following season. In 2006, Kuyt was transferred to Liverpool. He played with the club until 2012 when he transferred to Fenerbahçe. Kuyt returned to Feyenoord in 2015. After his return, Kuyt helped Feyenoord win the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup. Kuyt was part of the Netherlands Senior National Team from 2004 to 2014 and participated in three FIFA World Cups, becoming a runner-up in 2010. In 2017, Kuyt announced his retirement but returned to playing briefly for the Quick Boys in April until June 2018. Kuyt founded the Dirk Kuyt Foundation which aims to make sports more accessible to people with disabilities.
