Dirty Heads Bio

Formed in Orange County, California, in 1996, high schoolers Jared “Dirty J” Watson and Dustin “Duddy B” Bushnell met at a party and teamed up to form what would become the reggae/rap/rock band The Dirty Heads. The two hit it off immediately, and began recording demo tracks in Duddy B’s garage. Jon Olazabal, Matt Ochoa, and David Foral joined the band not long after, solidifying their lineup. The released their debut album Any Port in a Storm in 2008, which was finished with the help of producers Steve Fox and Stan Frazier. They became heavily involved in the reggae-influenced rock movement, entering the arena with such big names as Sublime.

In 2010, the band released what is known as their most popular single, “Lay Me Down”, whose video premiered later that year on MTV. The Dirty Heads released their second album Cabin by the Sea in 2012, which peaked at #4 on the U.S. Alternative charts, and then Home – Phantoms of Summer in 2013, both of which were under the Five Seven label.
