Dita Von Teese Bio

Born Heather Renee Sweet, Dita Von Teese is an American vedette, model singer, actress, burlesque dance and costume designer. Credited with bringing burlesque back into popular culture, she hails from Michigan. As an actor she has worked on such films as Pin-Ups 2, and notably The Death of Salvador Dali.

With dance training, Von Teese is called the Queen of Burlesque and utilises props and classic dance techniques to create her own style. Having modelled for Heatherette and Jean Paul Gaultier in the Paris Fashion Week she has also worked with Vivienne Westwood and has worked with MAC Cosmetics, and launched her own lingerie range with Wonderbra and Myer, an Australian department store. Most recently she has made television appearances as herself in shows such as Cupcake Wars and Project Runway as a guest.
