DJ Krush is the stage name of electronic music producer and DJ, Hideaki Ishi, born on the 29th of July, 1962, in Tokyo, Japan. Ishi is considered to be one of the pioneers of the Japanese hip hop underground scene and he is one of the most respected producers and artists in Japan. His sound has been described as a fusion of trip hop, rap, ambient and house music. He released his first self titled album in 1994, and in the same year he released a second album “Strictly Turtablized”. It would be the beginning of a highly prolific career, releasing over a dozen of albums, more than 50 singles and 4 compilation albums between the late 1990s and 2020. He has also remixed several songs from artists such as Roy Hargrove, Miki Nakatani, and Toshinobu Kubota.
