Donovan Philipp Leitch (who’s popularly known as Donovan) is a Scottish singer, songwriter, and musician who was born on May 10th, 1946 in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. He is also the father of Donovan Leitch and Ione Skye.
Donovan’s debut single was Catch the Wind which he quickly followed up with the singles Colours which was also a hit. He made his American debut at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival and his second LP Fairytale appeared through the Hickory label. He dropped his breakthrough album Sunshine Superman arrived in 1966 through Epic. He also released a series of hits in 1967 including Epistle to Dippy, There Is a Mountain, and Wear Your Love Like Heaven. Barabajagal generated Donovan’s final Top 40 hit Atlantis, which was very successful as well.
