Donovan Woods is a Canadian singer and songwriter who was born in 1980 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. He was born and raised in Canada and began dabbling with music in his teens. Donovan’s debut arrived in 2007 as The Hold-Up. He first rose to moderate fame when his single My Cousin Has a Grey Cup Ring was used in commercials for the Grey Cup, the Canadian Football League’s national championship game. His fame continued to grow with the release of his 2011 hit The Widowmaker and followed up two years later with Don’t Get Too Grand. Donovan signed with Warner Chappell in 2016 and released his fourth LP Hard Settle Ain’t Troubled which was longlisted for Canada’s Polaris Prize. He released Both Ways in 2018 which won the Juno Award (the Canadian Grammy) in 2019 for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year.
