Doug Jones Bio

Doug Jones is an American award-winning actor, mime artist, and contortionist best known for his work in film and television. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States, on May 24, 1960. Doug began miming and body contorting from a young age, but he began his acting career in 1988 when he appeared in the film The Newlydeads. His experience with miming and contortionism made him a perfect fit for embodying non-human characters, and he has become one of the most famous actors ever to perform in prosthetics. Doug’s filmography includes the blockbusters Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Legion, Pan's Labyrinth, Ouija: Origin of Evil, and Crimson Peak, but he is best known for starring in the drama-fantasy film The Shape of Water alongside Sally Hawkins, Octavia Spencer, and Michael Shannon. He has had recurring roles in the TV series Star Trek: Discovery, Automata, Adopted, The Strain, and Falling Skies. Doug has won multiple awards including two Saturn Awards from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series, a Fangoria Chainsaw Award for Best Supporting Actor, and a Carnage Award at the Diabolical Horror Film Festival for Best Actor.
