Doves is a British indie rock group formed in 1998 in Manchester. It is composed of vocalist/bassist Jimi Goodwin and by twin brothers Jez (guitar) and Andy Williams (drums), who came together as a late 90s one-hit-wonder band called “Sub Sub”. After releasing three EP’s the band signed with Heavenly Records and released their 2000 full-length debut album “Lost Souls”, nominated for the Mercury Prize. Their subsequent albums “The Last Broadcast” (2002) and “Some Cities” (2005) became chart-toppers in the UK, including the top three singles “There Goes the Fear”. With their third effort “Some Cities” the band became number one in the albums chart and set the path to opening shows for U2 and Coldplay. Success continued with 2009’s “Kingdom of Rust” and a 2010 compilation titled “The Places Between: The Best of Doves,” until the band went on hiatus. In 2019 the band reunited and a year later “The Universal Want” was issued.
