Drew Doughty is a Canadian professional ice hockey player born in London, Ontario, Canada on December 8, 1989. He currently plays as a defenseman and current alternate captain for the Los Angeles Kinds of the National Hockey League. He received his first hockey stick at one years old and started playing hockey before the age of four. In 2005 he was selected by the Guelph Storm in the 2005 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection draft, 5th overall. In 2008 he was awarded the Max Kaminsky Trophy as the OHL’s outstanding defenseman. He was selected by the Los Angeles Kings second overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Doughty made his NHL debut in 2008 at 18 years old. In 2011 he became the teams highest-paid player after signing an eight-year, $56 million contract with the Kings. He is a two-time Stanley Cup champion in 2012 and 2014 and a two-time Olympic gold medalist with the Canadian national team in 2010 and 2014.
