A celebrated singer, songwriter and actor, Dwight David Yoakam was born on 23 October 1956, in Pikeville, Kentucky, United States. The gifted musician played in different bands during high school and dropped out of Ohio State University to pursue his musical career. He found his home in Los Angeles playing in nightclubs and country clubs. Dwight Yoakam released his EP ‘A Town South of Bakersfield’ in 1984. Thanks to the positive feedback his work received, Reprise Records signed the up-and-coming singer for the 1986 debut album ‘Guitar, Cadillacs, Etc, Etc’. It was another instant hit that signaled a promising career ahead for the singer. He received 18 Grammy nominations in his career and won the Grammy award twice. The RIAA awarded him with 7 platinum album records and 3 gold album records, a testament to his enormous commercial success.
