Grammy award-winning pianist, Eduardo Palmieri was born in New York City on 15th December 1936. Since he was 8, he accompanied his brother Charlie Palmieri to many talent shows and developed an interest in music, particularly jazz. He learned to play the piano and at 11, he performed at the prestigious Carnegie Hall. In 1961, he founded the band, Conjunto La Perfecta which added a twist to the traditional Charanga orchestra. This group was considered one of the most influential and innovative Latin music groups in the world. In 1968, they disbanded and Eddie began to produce music independently. In 1975, with The Sun of Latin Music, he bagged his first Grammy Award for Best Recording. He has played in several concerts and has produced several songs, bagging 9 Grammy Awards throughout his career. He also received an honorary doctorate from the Berklee College of Music in 1998.
