Jessie Malakouti, better known for her stage name Eden XO, is a singer and songwriter that makes dancey electronic pop, or EDM pop. She was born as Jessica Eden Malakouti in Southern California in 1989 and moved to Los Angeles after highschool. For a couple of years in the 2000s, she was a part of the band “Shut Up Stella”, where she was the front woman. The band was signed to Epic Records from 2006 to 2008.
After dissolving the band and parting ways with that record label, she signed on with EMI and worked on new material with producer Fred Falke. She later released a single called “Standing Up for the Lonely” on Ministry of Sound. She later formed “Jessie and the Toy Boys” with whom she reached the Top Ten Billboard charts for “Push It”. She then returned to solo music, eventually releasing “Too Cool to Dance” on Virgin under her stage name Eden XO.
