Ernesto Pérez (born October 23, 1964 in Badiraguato, Sinaloa, Mexico) is a regional Mexican musician and actor better known by his stage name El Chapo de Sinaloa (Spanish: The Shorty from Sinaloa).
He began his career as a Norteo singer, but has now shifted his concentration to Banda, as well as some Mariachi songs.
As a clarinetist, he began playing with local organizations when he was 11 years old. Later, he learnt bass and worked as a studio musician for regional Mexican labels.
He signed with EMI Latin in the 1990s and began a solo career. He has released over a dozen albums since then, all of which have been commercially successful in both Mexico and the United States; he has recorded for Sony Discos and D Disa.
