Gabriela Jimeno (who’s popularly known as Ela Minus) is a Colombian composer, drummer, musician, producer, and illustrator who was born on February 11th, 1990 in Bogota, Colombia. She was born and raised in Bogota. Ela began playing music when she was 12, forming the band Raton Perez with her brother. She was the drummer.
Ela later moved to the US and enrolled in the Berklee College of Music. While in school she created illustrations and designs under the moniker Ela Minus which she later adapted for her songwriting pursuits. She also played in the indie-pop group Balancer. Ela’s debut solo single Jamaica dropped in 2015 and her debut EP First Words followed up quickly later that same year. She then dropped a trilogy which was followed by 2016’s Grow and 2017’s Adapt, amongst a host of other singles. Her debut album acts of rebellion were released by Domino in October 2020.
