Elbow debuted with their first single Powder Blue in 1998, when they performed at John Peel’s Festive 50. The love the Uk has for Elbow, was often cited by famous names like Elton John and John Cale.
In 2008, Elbow won the Mercury Prize for their fourth album, The Seldom Seen Kid. A single on this album, One Day Like This became the soundtrack to the BBC’s Beijing Olympics coverage and to the Big Brother final as well. The last two of Elbow’s studio albums, The Take Off and Landing of Everything, published in 2014 and Little Fictions, published in 2017 have both made it to the Number One in the UK album charts.
