Eleanor Friedberger was born on 2nd September 1976 in Oak Park, Illinois. She is one of the indie rock duo, The Fiery Furnaces, with Matthew Friedberger, who is her brother. She is the major contributor of vocals in the band, whether it is recording or live performance. Her love for music began at a young age while singing alongside her grandmother in a Greek Orthodox Church.
She released her first solo album under Merge Records in July 2011. When the album was released, it was received positively, getting 81 out of 100 on Metacritic. She has been featured on different fashion websites and modeled for Vena Cava and Miu Miu. In 2015, she released the single “False Alphabet City.” After touring for close to a year, Eleanor Friedberger decided to spend some time in Greece, connecting with her heritage and local music.
