Emily Barker was born on December 2, 1980 in Australia. She is a singer and a composer. Her music has been featured in BBC dramas and she has collaborated with multi-instrumental trio The Red Clay Halo. Emily has recorded four albums, which include: Photos Fires Fables (2006), Despite The Snow (2008), and Almanac (2011). She traveled to the Cambridge in the United Kingdom in 2002 and worked with guitarist Rob Jackson. They formed a band called The Low Country, which released two albums. In October 2005, she won Country Song Of The Year and Regional Song Of The Year awards at the annual West Australian Music Songwriting Awards.
Barker was introduced to producer Calum Malcolm in early 2012. She joined him to produce four songs including a new version of Emily’s murder ballad duet. Shortly after finishing the recording, they performed at the Olympic opening. Emily Barker and the Red Clay Halo released a special limited edition in April of 2014. Emily also composed her first feature-length soundtrack for the UK movie Hector in 2015.
