Eithne Pádraigín Ní Bhraonáin, widely known as Enya, is a singer and songwriter born in Gweedore, County Donegal, Ireland, on May 17, 1961. She is associated with BBC, Atlantic, WEA, Geffen, Reprise, and Warner Bros. She joined Clannad in 1980 and left in 1982.
Enya worked with producer Nicky Ryan and lyricist Roma Ryan on the score for BBC-TV's The Celts. She released her self-titled solo album in 1986. She gained prominence in 1988 when she released Watermark. Shepherd Moons followed in 1991, peaking at number 17 in the US charts and remaining in the Top 200 for years.
Enya released her fourth album, Memory of Trees, in December 1995. The album peaked at number nine on the US charts, selling over two million copies in its first year. She won the World's Best-Selling Irish Act award at the 2006 World Music Awards and the Best New Age Album award at the 2007 Grammy Awards. Her discography includes Christmas Secrets, Dark Sky Island, And Winter Came..., and The Very Best of Enya (Deluxe Edition).
