Eric Bana was born on August 9th, 1968 in Melbourne, Australia as Eric Banadinovic. He showed interest in comedy as a child and was influenced by films to start becoming an actor himself. He moved to Sydney and eventually found work as a stand-up comedian in 1991. After making a television debut on Steve Vizard’s Tonight Live with Steve Vizard (1990) he gained popularity mainly for his comedic impressions of other celebrities. He went on to star in his own work, Eric (1997) and The Eric Bana Show (1997), the latter winning him a Logie Award for Most Popular Comedian (1997). Bana’s role in the film Chopper (2000) also won him both Best Actor (2000) at the Stockholm Film Festival and the AFI Best Actor award (2000).
