Eric Weddle is an American professional football player born in Fontana, California on January 4, 1985. He is currently a free safety for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League. Weddle played football in high school at Alta Loma High School in Rancho Cucamonga, California. He went on to play college football at the University of Utah from 2003 to 2006. In 2007 he was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the second round, 37th overall, in the 2007 NFL Draft. He was signed to a four-year contract for $4.16 million with $3.47 guaranteed and a signing bonus of $1.81 million. He made his NFL debut in the Chargers season-opener against the Chicago Bears. In 2011 he became an unrestricted agent and signed a five-year contract with the Chargers for $40 million with $19 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $13 million. In 2016 he signed a four-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens for $26 million with $13 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $7 million. He was released by the Ravens in 2019 and that same year signed a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams for $10.5 million. Throughout his NFL career he has recorded 1,070 tackles, 9.5 sacs, 95 pass deflections, 29 interceptions, 8 forced fumbles, and 5 defensive touchdowns.
