Estelle is a British singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer, and actress born in London, England on January 18, 1980. She became well known in 2008 after the release of her hit single “American Boy” featuring Kanye West. The song charted at number one in the UK. She started her music career singing in clubs around London. In 2003 she released her debut single titled “Excuse Me”. In 2004 she released her debut studio album titled The 18th Day. The album debuted at number 35 in the UK and had two top 20 singles. In 2008 she was signed to John Legend’s label Homeschool and she released her second studio album Shine. She has since released the albums All of Me, True Romance, and Lovers Rock. She made her debut on television on the British comedy panel game Never Mind the Buzzcocks. In 2014 she made her acting debut in the film Beyond the Lights and has also had roles in the films and shows Girls Trip, Back to the Goode Life, and Empire. She has voiced characters for the animated shows and films Steven Universe, We Bare Bears, OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes, and Steven Universe: The Movie. Throughout her career she has been nominated for a number of awards and has won a Grammy Award, a World Music Award, a UMA Award, two MOBO Awards and others.
