Born in Magnitogorsk, Russia on July 31, 1986, Evgeni Malkin was first round, second overall pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2004 NHL draft. From 2004 to 2006, he represented the Russian Union in the World Junior U-20 Championships. He has been part of the all-star games in 2008, 2009, 2012, and 2016. During the 2011-12 season, he won the Art Ross Trophy, Hart Memorial Trophy, Ted Lindsay Award and the Conn Smythe Trophy and Art Ross Trophy during the 2008-09 season. He received the Calder Memorial Trophy during the 2006-07 season. He played for the Magnitogorsk Metallurg for the Russian Elite League and for the same team during the Kontinental Hockey League. He helped the Penguins win the Stanley Cup in 2009, and the Prince of Wales Trophy in 2016 and 2017.
