Known to perform under the name Example, singer and rapper Elliot John Gleave was born on June 20, 1982, in London, England. He began rapping at an early age, even engaging in rap battles, and though he went to University to study film, he took on side jobs as an MC to make more money. It was during this time that he met producer Joseph Gardner, with whom he created a concept album that would feature Example’s later single “A Pointless Song”. Example then released the track “Vile”, which received widespread airtime and which was released through The Beats record label. 2007 saw the release of his debut album What We Made, followed by Won’t Go Quietly in 2010, led by the singles “Watch the Sun Come Up” and “Won’t Go Quietly”.
Example put out the album Playing in the Shadows in 2011, a record which went to #1 in the UK and featured the single “Changed the Way You Kiss Me”, which got him nominated at the 2012 BRIT Awards for the best British Single. He would later release The Evolution of Man in 2012 and Live Life Living in 2014.
