Exodus is an American thrash metal band that was formed in 1981 in San Francisco, California, United States. The founding members of the band were singer Paul Baloff, guitarists Gary Holt and Kirk Hammett, bassist Geoff Andres, and drummer Tom Hunting. The band was initially influenced in the early stages by Motörhead and the new Wave of British Heavy Metal bands like Iron Maiden and Raven.
The band was famously known as the 'Kings of the Bay (area)' especially when they were in their prime (1983 to 1986). They toured incessantly over the years strengthening their lineups and recording a number of livesets that further soldified their fame. The album 'Bonded by Blood' appeared in 1985. 'Pleasures of the Flesh' followed two years later after which the band toured extensively. 'Fabulous Disaster' was one of their 1989 releases and the next year, 'Impact Is Imminent' followed. Their most diverse album 'Force of Habit' appeared in 1992 and the band’s sixth studio album 'Tempo of the Damned' appeared in 2004. 'Shovel Headed Kill Machine' was released in 2005 as a studio record and in 2021 the band released 'Persona Non Grata' after a halt of over seven years.
