Farruko, born Carlos Efren Reyes Rosado on May 2nd, 1991 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico is a singer and songwriter. Farruko began his musical career in 2009. He cites the early social media platform Myspace as the launching pad for his music career and creating a fanbase. Farruko specializes in the genres of Latin pop and Reggaeton.
Farruko’s first single, “Sexo Fuera del Planeta,” gained him thousands of followers on Myspace. At the age of 18 he released his debut album entitled El Talento del Bloque on the label Siente Music in conjunction with Universal Music. The album featured hit singles such as “Su Hija Me Gusta” featuring Jose Feliciano, “Ella No Es Facil” featuring Cosculluela, and “Traime a Tu Amiga” featuring Arcangel and Julio Voltio. He then released the single “Pa Romper la Discoteca” featuring Daddy Yankee and Yomo to critical success.
In 2012 he followed up with the release of his sophomore album The Most Powerful Rookie. 2013 saw Farruko release the album El imperio Nazza. After going on an extensive tour of the United States and Latin America, he released the album Farruko Presenta: Los Menores.The album quickly shot up the Latin music charts. Farruko has been nominated for a Latin Grammy Award three times and finally won for Best Urban Song for the single “Encantadora.”
