Known to the world as Fatboy Slim, Quentin Leo Cook was born in England on July 16, 1963. He spent his adolescence and part of his 20s in various bands with friends, and in 1989, released his solo track “Blame It on the Bassline”, featuring MC Wildski. After forming Beats International, a super group of musicians, they released the album Let Them Eat Bingo with the song “Dub Be Good to Me”, but fell into trouble with copyright law. After forming Freak Power, Fatboy Slim – who at that time was performing under his own name – released Drive Thru Booty in 1994, whose single “Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out” was used in a Levi’s campaign. He adopted the moniker Fat Boy Slim, released Better Living Through Chemistry, and put out the extremely popular singles “The Rockafeller Skank” and “Praise You”. He was honored at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards for being the recipient of three awards. Fatboy Slim would go on to release You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby in 1998, Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars in 2000, Palookaville in 2004, and Here Lies Love with David Byrne in 2010.
