Federica Pellegrini is an Italian retired professional swimmer who represented Italy in international freestyle swimming competitions. She was born in Mirano, Italy, on August 5, 1988.
Federica began her professional swimming career in 2000 when she competed at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and won silver in the 200 m freestyle event. She quickly became known as one of the best long-distance swimmers, and in 2009, she cemented herself in history by breaking the 200-meter freestyle record with a time of 1:52.98.
Federica won gold in the 200 m freestyle event at the 2012 London Olympics which also featured Allison Schmitt, Missy Franklin, and Sarah Sjöström.
