Feeder Bio

Feeder is the eventual band formed by guitarist Grant Nicholas, drummer Jon Lee, and bassist Simon Blight. Through numerous line-up and name changes they settled in their present duo of Nicholas and bass guitarist Taka Hirose. Nicholas started out in the band Sweet Leaf, named after Black Sabbath’s song. The band Feeder took its name from Nicholas’ pet goldfish upon signing their first record contract with the Echo label. The Welsh-Japanese fusion group has gone on to release eleven albums from 1996 to 2017, with five albums certified gold and two albums, “Echo Park” (2001) and “Comfort in Sound” (2002) certified platinum in the UK.

Feeder’s sound has traditionally been alternative, with leanings towards pop and progressive. they have toured with the bands Manics and Stereophonics in Europe and the UK. Their breakout single was “Buck Rogers” (2001) which went to #5 on the UK Singles chart. While suffering a setback shortly after that with the passing of Jon Lee, the group has carried on and charted heavily in the UK and Japan.
